What is a .msg file?
A .msg file is Microsoft Outlook's proprietary format for saving email messages. When you save or export an email from Outlook, it creates a .msg file stored in the Compound Document File format (OLE2). Unlike the standard EML format, .msg files are binary and can only be opened natively by Microsoft Outlook.
