❓   What is Auth-Email?

Auth-Email is an OAuth proxy that allows apps and email clients to access secure email providers (like Gmail, Outlook, etc.) using standard IMAP/SMTP/POP — without requiring an app password or storing your actual login. It acts as a bridge between modern OAuth accounts and legacy tools that expect usernames and passwords.


❓   What are some use cases for Auth-Email?

Auth-Email is ideal for:

  • Managing account authorization for multiple email accounts with ease
  • Accessing email from clients that don't support OAuth – for example, scan to email, printers, older apps
  • Accessing the same account from multiple clients without managing OAuth separately for each one
  • Tracking account access and usage

❓   Which email providers are supported?

Auth-Email currently supports:

  • Microsoft 365 / Office 365 / Exchange Online / Outlook / Windows Live Mail / Hotmail
  • Gmail / Google Workspace
  • Microsoft 365 operated by 21Vianet
  • Fastmail
  • Yahoo, Ymail / RocketMail

❓   Is my data safe?

Yes. Auth-Email:

  • Never stores your emails or message content
  • Stores OAuth access tokens in encrypted form with a password only you know
  • Uses secure TLS connections end-to-end
  • Allows you to revoke access at any time from the dashboard

❓   What’s my username and password?

  • Your username is your full email address.
  • Your password is set by you when you authorize your account to be used via Auth-Email. If you forget your password, you can reset it by reauthorizing the account.

❓   Can I use Auth-Email with legacy apps like Outlook 2013, Eudora or MFP printers?

Yes! That’s a primary use case. Auth-Email lets any software that supports IMAP/POP/SMTP work with OAuth-only providers, including:

  • Office 2013 or earlier
  • Eudora
  • Older versions of Apple Mail
  • Python/PHP scripts
  • Multifunction printers and scanners

❓   How many accounts can I add?

This depends on your plan:

  • Starter: 1 account
  • Personal: 5 accounts
  • Pro: 25 accounts

❓   Will there be any issues with deliverability?

No! Unlike SMTP forwarding services, Auth-Email uses your email provider's original servers, so you can rest assured that your messages will reach their destination. As a bonus, this also means you don't have to worry about DNS configuration, SPF, DKIM or any of the other complex and error-prone requirements for modern email sending.


❓   Are there any message limits?

No. Unlike other services, Auth-Email does not track or limit the number of messages. All plans come with unlimited messages!


❓   How can I revoke or remove access?

To revoke access for an account:

  1. Go to your Auth-Email dashboard
  2. Expand the “Configure” menu next to your account, and select “Reset account authorization”. This will revoke OAuth access immediately
  3. (Optional) Re-authorize the account with a new password if needed
